I think conceptually this makes sense, but we really need to update our terminology. What we’re really talking about is the difference between broad, holistic experience design (or service design), which we’re calling CX, and product design (UX). To me, the key here is that it’s all experience design, but operating at different levels of scale and in different contexts. I’d argue that we shouldn’t just work closely together, we should be one discipline, going from the overall experience the company or org delivers, down to the specific touchpoints and products that bring that experience to life. Let’s just be Experience Design, or even just Design, and recognize it takes all of us to create wonderful experiences along the entire customer journey.
