24mm is one of my favorite focal lengths as well but as long as it’s not barrel distorted, getting it on a zoom lens like a 24–70mm f/2.8 or f/4 is a more versatile way to go on a DSLR. I like prime lenses but decent zooms are also worth considering. And, even if one has an older model with distortion, applications like Lightroom have built in corrections for various lenses.

Given that for landscape work shooting wide open at large apertures isn’t always needed, one can save money buy buying a slower lens (f/4).
