Actually, this external exam is still active since November 13, 2021. This is in the order of the Governor DKI Jakarta №66 of 2020 issued regarding vehicle emissions testing. This means that all vehicles must pass this external test to meet a predetermined threshold. If your car does not meet the emission standards, you may be fined IDR 500,000. Before doing a car air test in the garage, pay attention to the following points:
The car must be in good condition, so electronics, such as lights, air conditioning and radio, must be turned on. The exhaust inspection is done by installing a gas detector in the exhaust. The process starts when the engine speed increases to 1900–2000 rpm. Hold for 60 seconds before returning to work.
The measurement is taken when the car is running or when the engine speed is between 800 and 1,400 rpm.
A specialist works by inserting a pipe (probe) into the port 30 cm deep for 20 seconds.
Vehicle air condition and content will be registered after completion. During this period, the level of carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC) or other substances in the exhaust gas is insufficient.
It is enough to go to the air traffic control office in Tangerang for the car to pass the fine. However, make sure you are already familiar with the methods above.
