What the author is saying is that in our desire to support and promote diversity we’re inadvertently creating a PC culture of shaming and alienating anyone who disagrees; which is uncannily ironic, and obviously dangerous (how do you think Trump won?)

If we truly want to be inclusive of human diversity we have to make room for it, just as freedom of speech requires us to make room for perspectives we don’t like. Threatening to “show assholes the door” only alienates us further.

Diversity is about making space for differences, not judging people who disagree with new inflexible stereotypes of “correct and acceptable.”
