I am Me, here we Go

What would be the most useful thing for me to know about you as a student?

I really embrace and thrive learning through tactile interaction. Being hands on helps me to learn and understand. I also really enjoy learning in new settings and styles.

What do you wish was different about school?

I HATE THE COLD. You would think that growing up in the Chicago suburbs I would be used to it, or know what I was in for at the least, but it doesn’t change it. Gimmie 80 and sunny everyday and I would be happy as a clam!

Describe a moment in school last year when you felt really engaged. Why do you think that moment was such a positive one for you?

Last year I took ADPR 2100, and we had this opportunity to design our own website and create our own company. I felt like an individual. It was creative, interactive, and personal. I felt like I was growing.

What do you think teachers think about you, and what do you wish they’d think about you?

Hopefully- friendly, kind, on-time. I wish that you would also know, and hopefully now you will, how much I care about class.

Tell me about a teacher who you feel knew you well. What kind of student were you in his or her class? What did he or she do to get to know you?

Prof. Kemp, bio 1001. I started Marquette as a biomedical science major.. and I hate science. HATE science. So, safe to say I wasn’t really enjoying it. I found the material not only completely uninteresting, but extremely difficult to grasp. Professor Kemp, out of a lecture of 200+ kids, met with me every Monday morning one on one to help me understand the concepts. He also helped me in a group of kids during office hours 3, yes 3, times a week. He also helped talked me down from the extreme stress I was going through (as one does when they feel like they must figure their whole life out). When I wanted to drop the class, he convinced me to push through and helped me to not only pass the class, but to do so with flying colors. Looking back now, even though I switched majors, I am still proud of taking that class down head on. Yet, I know that Professor Kemp’s patience and modivation are the reasons I survived the Bio 1001 semester.

If you could build a school, what would it look like?

It I could build a school, it would have many windows, indoor plants galore’, and lots of colors. There would be lots of art classes. My school would be shaped something funky to make it stand out, maybe like a big sun. A big room for puppies too, of course. Maybe a mini-farm/petting zoo too? Oh the possibilites.

What do you wish I would ask you so that I can be a good teacher for you?

Being clear on when things are due. Positive energy and it’ll be a great semester!

What makes a weekend day great for you?

A solid nights sleep, get getting up not too late. Lets say 8am. Yoga. A big yummy brunch. Walk my dogs with my momma. Lay in the sun with music. Go hiking with friends. Go out for pizza and eat on the beach. Go to a concert. Then sleep. The perfect day!

Anything else to add?

Nah. Looking forward to this semester! This class looks awesome.
