The headless Confederate Memorial in Forest Park.
There is [or was] something to be said about keeping the scars of our past right in front of our eyes lest we make the same mistakes again, but wait, we’ve been making the same mistakes the whole time this statue has been standing. The former site of Pevely Dairy.
In the background we see the SLU med school, in the foreground [and out of frame] we see vacancy. SLU has done well to eliminate any imagination of density from our city’s core. The Pevely Dairy is just the latest example of needless waste of building and history.
