Totally agree with this. A favorite tactic that I have is to take a screenshot of your design, open it in a photo editor, and blur it. What do your eyes focus on? Alternately, turn the entire design greyscale. Can you clearly see and read everything? This not only helps visually impaired viewers, but increases usability for everyone.
