This assignment was challenging; I noticed early on that the dynamic between myself and the world changes when I’m holding a camera. I missed a few very intriguing shots early on because I was too shy to really go for them. It’s difficult enough to approach people to ask for their information or take a close up shot, but social distancing makes it near impossible at times! I’ve spent most of my days for the past four months by myself, either at home or walking around town and in the woods. For this reason, I initially found it difficult to capture emotional or decisive moments, but I think I was able to accomplish this through a combination of self-portraiture at home and patience in public areas.
