Are You Mine, Little Girl?

Written in a Moment of Frustration

There are little moments
When being a dad is worthwhile
But often I am overcome
With Frustration

What am I doing wrong?

Nothing.
It comes
With time.

Do I love you yet, little girl?
Or are you just another baby
Not necessarily mine
Whom I care for
For a while?

But when the moment passes
And you sleep contentedly
I look upon you
And smile from my heart

You are mine
And I am here for you.

The irony of toddlers is that they create so much new material every day, but leave you no time or energy to write about it.
