5 Best Gifts You Could Get for Me

Just in case you have been wondering what to buy when you wish to get me a gift for any occasion. Here are things I listed to help you on that matter.

1. Books

You will literacy lost here. Got it?

The way between me and books is like.. me and books. Means that I am not sure how to paint it into words. I love to read. But not so often and many to consider myself as a bookworm. I don’t deserve that. I love to have books. I need to love them. It is like in the scenario where you would love to prepare yourself enough supplies and weaponry in case of zombie breakouts. Only in this matter, books are the best I could prepare for my future self. I would love to own the sources if someday I need it. I want to be ready when my children wonder about things I can’t answer. Or when me and wife someday lost in the way of our life and need to go back, relearn the past, so we could found a pattern, then solve whatever challenge the future have for us. Books are never a terrible gift you could give for me. I’ll owe you a lifetime.

And by the way, I am pretty paranoid of how my descendant turns out so I am making a reading list for them.

2. Notebooks

Great notebooks are like a life partner.

I found myself as both an extrovert and introvert. There is this term for it, ambivert. Man! I don’t like that word. I rather to be said as a mysterious than ambiguous.

The point is, I need to be surrounded by people, but not too much it drained me out. I need to be alone, but not too long so I lost my willing to live. That, makes my mind wander all over the place most of the time that it’s hard for me to communicate clearly if I have no preparation. That is where a notebook came out a hero. It helps me clear my mind up, sorts things out, boosts my mood, structures my sentences, let my anxieties out, those sort of things, by writing, doodling, scrapping, whatever I need on its papers. Therefore, I always bring a notebook and pen whenever wherever I go.

I appreciate a great notebook where it has blank papers (no lines and grids), enough thickness that ink won’t leak out or blurred, have a good grips for pencils (not slippery to sketch), have at least 100 pages, the size fits in my slingshot bag or even better : my pocket, but not too small that I can’t finish a paragraph in one page, solid but not too thick cover, nice to have a bright or distinct colors so I could easily spot it, and MUST properly bind. I hate to have the papers coming off and unintentionally slipped here and there. Any features aside from above mentioned are bonuses that have a little to no impact for me.

My current favorite notebook supplier is Fawn & Luna and We Are The Walrus.

3. Film Rolls

Photography is my first-love all-time-favorite hobby. I love it in a way that I don’t want to make it as a way of earning money. I do it to both express myself and sharpen my feeling. Film photography happened to accommodate those needs best. Its slow process and mindful approach of taking pictures dazzle me on so many levels. Almost therapeutic. Definitely intimate.

Sadly in my phase now, this hobby is a luxury I couldn’t afford, yet. The rolls and scanning them, are not cheap enough. I would appreciate the thought of getting me even a single roll. Let me indulged in 20–40 snaps and you’ll win my heart.

4. Music Instruments

If you want to amuse and challenge me at the same time, give me an instrument. Even if I might not show it, I swear, I will scream like a kid inside. I love to make and hear new sounds. Learning an instrument is considerably my best way of time killing. Also, though I LOVE it, I am fully aware that I am an amateur in music so I would do my best learning everything about it. You could directly contribute developing my being as a whole. Great!

5. You

The only thing matters the most above everything mentioned is human. You. Before the gift, despite whatever happened to me, there is always you, first. A breathing hurting living human being for the one as imperfect as me. Me who seems to always found a way to test your trust and patience. A sometime asshole and some other time a jerk to be laughed or mad at, and with.

You, whoever you are, I already had the best give. Ever. Then for you to have the thought of getting me a gift might seems better. But it is not.

In case you still want to get me something and can’t afford to buy things with money. As I certainly will do for you too, give me some of your time. It would be nice to talk with you privately. Over a coffee! (Just an idea).

It is always great to get to know people closer and be friend with. I believe we can’t possibly have enough friends. None of us know what might happen in the future. A friend to lean on and help things would forever be awesome.

Thank you!
