One angle that got kind of buried in the media storm is the idea that this election might really be about age more than anything else. I mean, Hillary was the youngest choice that we had, at a mere 69 years old. Trump was 70, Saunders, 75.

In a lot of ways, age is harder to talk about because everyone knows an old person that they’re close to — more so than all the “others” we like to pretend we understand. But when you say “dying establishment” we could be talking about it literally, here.

I don’t really see Trump as the start of anything new, or even a throw back to a bygone era — it’s really the Boomer generation trying to go out in a blaze of glory, a little too late. But much like losing a family member that you don’t get along with, the process won’t be any less painful.
