Instead of writing a full post in response, I’ll give you my reader’s digest from a Celtics fan perspective:
- Losing Isaiah is emotionally tough.
- Crowder was a real asset.
- Ante Zizic is an unproven comodity.
- We were not going to pay Isaiah what he wanted at the end of this contract (similar to Avery Bradley).
- The Brooklyn pick is a depreciating asset at this point (and will likely fall outside the top-heavy part of the draft next year).
- Kyrie is younger, bigger, complements Hayward pretty darn well (inside out game), and actually goes up a level in the playoffs (he destroyed the Celtics last year), and seems to be less of a health risk than IT over the course of a season.
- I don’t know if I love this trade, but I don’t think we’ll look back and say Boston got fleeced.
- There will be another big Danny Ainge move in the near future (12–15 months) that cements Boston as the best team in the East for years to come (the assets aren’t gone yet).
- The Celtics really like their young guns.
- Lebron is probably leaving Cleveland.
- We’ll see what happens.
