Dear Silicon Valley: Stop Ignoring Mass Markets

Totally agreed. In the hiring market, I think about the difference between Hired.com and ZipRecruiter.

Hired.com is only in a few high value markets, focuses on high demand jobs, and has a high barrier to entry for candidates.

ZipRecruiter is nationwide, has all levels of jobs, and anyone can sign up.

Obviously, investors value both, as both have raised significant capital. But I have a strong hunch how the mass consumer market will value the niche product versus the mass market one.

Full disclosure, I work at ZipRecruiter. Partially because I believe strongly in the above concept.
