Really? I rather like the trackpoint, at least the one on the Thinkpads. More so than touchpads. One of my older laptops, a Thinkpad X60 has a Trackpoint and no touchpad. I’ve found that I don’t miss the touchpad when using it at all. In general I find them easy to use and accurate, although I have ran into some bad ones, such as the one on the HP laptop that my work provided me. It’s especially nice if you type a lot as you don’t have to move your fingers away from the home row of the keys as much to move the cursor. Personally, I wouldn’t make a decision solely based on if it had a good trackpoint, but it is a plus. If I’m at a desk I usually end up using a mouse or external trackball.

I don’t know if you just need to get used to it, change the sensitivity, or have just already decided you hate it and won’t take a little time to get used to it.

Your rant seems kind of silly to me. Everyone has their own preferences, and I think while most people prefer the touchpad these days there are those who continue to love the trackpoint, and Lenovo knows that. I kind of wouldn’t mind seeing some laptops with trackballs. I liked the trackball on my old Powerbook that I used to own. However I doubt that’ll happen. :)
