Searching Around The Digital Media Is Not That Easy
We are still finding a way to search effectively
Speaking of searching around the digital world, we will always link it to search on the internet and World Wide Web. Searching on the internet is never an easy job, no matter how powerful Google is, it is still very hard to search for the thing you want when there are tons of different digital media uploaded every second around the world. A very good example is when University students are searching scholarly resources for their essays, it takes a huge amount of time in order to get what they want. Not to mention the professionals spend lots of time for nothing but only searching relevant ideas and information. This is a serious problem at the moment due to the rapid growth of the digital world.
In this piece of writing, I am going to give out my suggestion on how should we improve our technology in order to improve our searching efficiency.
Google’s advanced search is actually a great start of this goal. However, it got a few problems. The first thing is it is a little bit user unfriendly. When I am using that for the first time, I cannot actually figure out how to use that and what is the meanings of those categories. So developing a user friendly search engine is the key to success. Google’s original search engine is too wide sometimes. So my plan is Google can separate the web pages of ‘professionals’ and ‘non-professionals’. Don’t be misunderstood, my meaning is we should separate the web pages of Twitter and Government official pages. For example, when we are searching for news, our search result won’t have a Twitter blog pop up. Search engines can actually separate them into different categories like government, company, user-generated content, blogs and so on. Some special sites like YouTube can also own a categories in the search engine. In this way, searching online can be way more user friendly and accurate. Although this piece of work is just a little suggestion by a university student, I believe this can open a door for us.
In my opinion, most of the users using the internet are non-professionals, so make the search engines as simple as possible is a key to success. Moreover, searching effectively is also an important element too. Find a balance between them is the main challenge of the current digital world information searching business.
