The Pexa Project has now released the beta version of its pool platform, Pexa Pool, where anyone will be able to deploy/manage their own mining pool. This platform is user-friendly, and requires no development experience whatsoever. The platform is launching with two configurations:

  1. Managed coins
  2. Self-hosted coins.

Managed coins:

This is the most user-friendly option. The coin daemon runs behind the scenes, no need to run a daemon on your own hardware. Deployment is a few simple options you choose and buttons you click. For the beta release, only Pexa coin is available. More coins will be added to this option going forward.

Self-hosted coins:

This is the more advanced option. With greater difficulty brings more customization. The coin daemon runs on your hardware. You can host a private wallet and connect the managed stratum server to your self-hosted coin. Many coins can be hosted on this variant of the platform. The number of mining algorithms currently supported is numbered at 59, with more to be added.

The cost to run a pool on the Pexa Pool platform is minimal, and will include personalized support. This support will be extensive during the beta period as the platform is refined. Payment will be accepted in the native cryptocurrency Pexa. In addition to paying with Pexa, we created a strategic partnership with BitCash as an acceptable form of payment, and one other coin we will be announcing here soon.

Mining is only possible using SNI-compliant miners. This currently consists of TeamRedMiner (AMD, Windows and Linux) and a pre-release version of T-rex (Nvidia, Windows and Linux). Until SNI-compliance is supported in an official release of T-rex, the pre-release version is available from Xovenia in the Pexa discord. Talks are ongoing with other mining software developers to include the increased security afforded by SNI-compliance. Users are always encouraged to inquire about SNI-compliance for all other miner software developers as that’s the only prerequisite to be compatible with the Pexa Project.

The Pexa Pool platform is a perfect fit whether you’re a speculative miner trying to maximize earnings early, or a professional trying to establish your mining pool brand. All are welcome to try out the beta version until all 50 spots are filled. This 50 pool limit will be removed once the beta has concluded.

Getting Started

To signup for the application visit https://auth.pexaproject.com. Account creation takes a couple minutes, so go get a cup of coffee then come back.

Note: For a limited time, free trials will be granted to people on a first come first serve basis.

After you log into the application, click on ‘Create Managed Mining Pool.’

Note: The current price of 50 pexa per day is being used as a placeholder until enough data has been accumulated to be able to develop a fair price point which will support the infrastructure.

Once you’ve clicked into the control panel, you are presented with some options. Other than the name of the pool, which is purely internal and only used to identify your pool in the platform’s manage panel, all options here can be changed later.

Fill out the name. Use a name you can easily remember in order to later identify your pool from the manage panel. This name is used to identify a lot of internal workings of the application. Don’t worry if you need to put a number or something in it, as this is not public. The platform will prompt you if the pool name is already in use.

The next steps are simple. The admin username and admin password are setup to create the initial account in your mining pool in order to manage it within your domain. Choose something secure, as to prevent people from logging into your pool.

The next step you’ll want to do is choose your region. Currently we only support North America, but plans to branch out into Asia and Europe are in the works.

Choose your Stratum’s Region

After choosing your region you are presented with a couple more options.

The mining pool domain name is the main domain name you choose for your mining pool. This domain is used for the website miners to visit and see the front end statistics.

The stratum domain name is the domain name to identify your stratum server. This domain is used for identifying the stratum server.

Note: Currently, we only support miners that have SNI (server name indication) compliance. This gives us the ability to load balance the mining, and add security to the data exchange between you and the stratum server. We worked with T-Rex miner on this to add SNI. The new version of the T-Rex miner is not yet released, but will be given out to the testing team. We will be working with other miners to add this same compliance. Once the domain resolves at the load balancer via SNI, the stratum server can be found.

We currently do not support any integrations yet with domain registrars and resellers to automatically set up your pool and stratum domain name. We most certainly plan to do this in the future.

Fill out your domain identity and choose the algorithm groups for your stratum. Fill out your domain identity and choose the algorithm groups for your stratum. The heavy lifting of developing the backbone of this solution has mostly been completed. Work that remains is expansion and refinement of this solution.

Managing Your Mining Pool

Once you have everything created. It’s time to login to your Mining Pool’s Manage Panel. To find this, we recognize there is no UI to click into it yet; however, using the above domain name you selected, you can simply visit https://yourdomain.com/manage/login to login to your pool.

You should be presented with a screen like this.

Note: Use your Email to login, not the Username. There is a bug in the system we are aware of, and Username logins are currently not working.

After a successful login, you will be granted with this beautiful manage panel for your mining pool.
