Great Products Don’t Happen By Accident

Excellent article Jon Lax. Another great reference for the football comparison is a book called Collision Low Crossers (https://g.co/kgs/Vg8ySc). The book follows Rex Ryan Jet’s coaching staff for a full season. I think another element of the comparison is the efforts that go in to analyzing what went right and what went wrong after a given game. Agile teams love to talk about doing retrospectives but how many managers actual value and respect this process. In the book the coaches spend days dissecting last weeks game before planning for the next one. Obviously, the defined nature and controlled variables of a football game makes this easier than a 6 month product life cycle but the lessons are still strong.
