Thoughts on Make-up

Not only do I think make-up is disgusting, I think it is one of the biggest aspects of slavery there is nowadays.
I’ve avoided this conversation with women, even men, because of one thing: DENIAL.
People are in denial. Women, I love you but God help me you are stubborn. Be brave! Fight conformity and fight this trend that industries have created to put you all in one box (A box that men joined as well).
I cannot count how many times I was told that if make-up makes a certain person feel pretty or happy, then what’s bad? What’s bad is that you -as a human being- are investing into an industry that is using resources to create a product. A product that not only doesn’t serve humanity but sets us steps back into evolution. People are becoming slaves of trends.

Women, I respect you. You are gorgeous human beings and probably the most beautiful and sophisticated creatures and in the universe. Yet you choose to look the same! You choose to have the same eyes, nose and lips. You choose to cover a skin that tells the story of your uniqueness. You choose to define beauty while you are billions! You choose to imprison yourselves! What you’ve been taught to identify as imperfections are what makes you ‘you’ and not another woman. I can’t think of a better way to put it, yet so many women don’t get it. It’s not about attracting a partner. It’s about knowing and being happy that you’re a whole. You’re special and it’s not up to some jerks to make you feel any less about your appearance.
I will never run out of reasons why make-up is one of the most irritating trends of our times. Not only does it damage your skin. It also takes a whole lot of your time, money and effort. It gives others reasons to judge you and judge others. It sets you for a non ending commitment to buying whatever is trendy in order to please a fake society created by industries. It makes you a consumer that contributes to nothing in their community. It helps give more money to people who don’t deserve. It also SEXUALIZES people, especially women. Women who wear blush and red lipstick, and fight objectifying women: You are objectifying yourself. Those colors were picked because redness infers being aroused. (You can include short dresses, heels, nude clothing). Stop sexualizing yourself and others won’t see you as an object. Your body is YOUR body, it isn’t YOU. Get it?

On top of all this, the bigger damage is that these industries have created a generation of people that are only focused on themselves. People who can’t see past the mirror. People who can name make-up brands but not countries. So many problems are out there in the world to fix and solve. We as human beings are responsible to help each other because we are no different from Africans, from Palestinians, from Syrians. Those industries have turned youth into self-centered people. What’s worse is that we keep on feeding into their nonsense, we support them by buying their products.
You are more than the life they market to you. You are a complex creature with the ability to make an impact. Yet you choose to make yourself a slave of people who are just like you. You carry on your back the responsibility of fighting for others because you are no different from people who are suffering out there. You might be one of them tomorrow. Start from yourself. Fight conformity. Fight slavery that is disguised as freedom. Be YOU!
