Global Collaboration Story

Hi team, right now I’m working on a collaboration story for North Shore. The current flow is you enter Finder, select an App, select a lens which opens in Explorer.

To enable communication across all levels (from Finder Home to App to Explorer/Builder) we are considering a consistent right hand info panel and buttons/actions on Activity Feeds and Details across each part of the product. A couple notes:

  • Search context changes at each level
  • You can toggle between Activity and Details similar to Google Drive
  • The details vary depending on whether you’re looking at an App, Dashboard, Lens or Dataset.
  • The activity feed design itself is derived from a new design being produced by Matt Stein’s team for Chatter on S1 Desktop
  • My Private App can’t be shared, an activity is reduced to recent actions (it’s private, so I don’t think a social/collaboration feed is necessary)
  • The “What are you working on” field for posting would expand to show text options and a “Post” button once you click on it
  • Activity field could include posts users submit, as well as a recap of recent actions (e.g. “Linh created a new app)
  • I want to include a lens preview on Explorer Details so you can see the difference between the saved lens and your current exploration (the image would be replaced on each save)
  • I haven’t included save actions yet

Drafts for Builder on the way, but I’d love your feedback on this sooner rather than later because it touches so many of your projects as well. Thanks!
