NYC subway sounds
A collection of songs & panhandling recorded on the train.
Adele cover (1:18)
The train is silent for a few stops. 4 kids enter and start belting-out some Adele. It’s always nice when the train applauses.
Bone-marrow guy (0:41)
The plea for help on the train is common and usually well scripted. The person enters the train, pitches, and is gone at the next stop. Locals tune-out while tourists hand-out.
Please help singer (0:28)
This guy sings his request instead of asking. He always ends with a big “enjoy…..your night” then shakes the change jar like a tambourine encore.
Platform acoustics (0:52)
The subway platforms have some good acoustics. These 2 elderly performers had an ‘upright violin-in-a-tub’ and a small guitar.
Giant sombreros (0:47)
This is one of my favorites. 3 dudes with giant sombreros and cowboy hats enter the train with an accordion, acoustic guitar and a stand-up bass. Go!
R&B acoustic (0:44)
Sounds like this make us smile on the subway, even when we pretend not to. Thank you NYC…
