“We’re all just personalities anyway.” -Kinkead.

A denouement of media. (#Day51)

Kevin Kinkead, lead beat reporter for the Philadelphia Union, said it best.

As the title above reads, we (journalists) are all just personalities, anyway.

Simply put, in an era of so many Mediums to use we are increasingly aligning ourselves more and more with how we act online in comparison to ourselves in real life.

In 2016, journalists aren’t who they used to be. No longer is the sideline reporter scuffling around in the rain. Instead, he or she is checking Twitter, text messages, and stat lines.

Information is the new currency in journalism. Instead of the roles being defined, they are now becoming muddled. Everyone is an information broker, everyone is a writer, an editor, a designer. There are things you can write and things that you shouldn’t write.

Media is changing for the better. Sites like Medium.com are giving everyone a voice. At least we are starting to use Facebook for actual-discussion now, too.

Kinkead really put it best.
