Socializing toward the middle
Courtney Owyang

I have a theory that women have to go around saying “sorry” to other women so much (and out of habit say it to men), is because if they failed to constantly preen each others emotional feathers, they’d get into hair-pulling slap fights multiple times per day.

Men solve this by being prepared to excuse other men.

“Pardon me, sir… let me get by ya…” and a man will make room to let another pass. No need to rub his groin in gratitude as you pass. He takes no offense, and feels no burden. It’s just a practical matter.
