Flow Chart : Nursing Project Sprint Process

Mapping the applications functions

The next step in the our process for the Nursing App at Maryville University is our Flow Chart which was created within a group of five which the goal to demonstrate best how our app will work. Detailed within many phases, the flow chart maps out ways each Nursing student will be able to navigate through the app with ease.

Main Sections

Detailed in this flowchart and multiple sections which lead to other sections. The most important of which are the Dashboard or Patient Portal, the Med Cards tab, and the search tab.

Patient Portal

The Patient Portal is created to be the most simplified process of the app therefore making the writing process of a clinical easier, and faster. Within this page there are profiles are patients that you have worked with before or that others in the class have worked with before which hold all the rudimentary information in them. With this information, the process becomes easier, as the Nurses do not have to retype all the information in again, just re-examine it. If, however, the patient is brand new the Nursing student must then create a new profile for the Patient which will then include all criteria of the SBAR. Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation. Once all information is filled out the User moves over to the submission, or finalize section which gives them the option to export to multiple different mediums such as DOCX, PDF, Excel, and more.

Med Cards

Med Cards are what the Nursing Students at Maryville University use to study, they have information about the individual patient and the medicines. In our app we wanted to create the ability to extract, view, and export these med cards for easier access and a better ability to study them. Therefore, we created a section exclusively for these Med cards which will view them as squares of information that can be printed out.

The Search Tab

One large complaint we got from our interview (see step 2) was that research took a long chunk of time from these students. If we were to build a function that pulls from all their databases, it would be categorized under our Library tab and our Search tab which would allow for the Nursing students to search through the databases with ease and makes it easier for them to pull information and put it right into the patient profiles.

Main Actions and Features

Within our sections and out around the app are other features which are meant to speed up the process of the app. Through the app is forms which will be predominantly built into the Patient Profiles page which removes the need for formatting the text correctly into the word documents. Other features are the search function that will be built into the Med Cards page as well as the Patient Profiles page. Alongside Patient Profiles will be categories which help simplify each page into smaller chunks that are then clicked through as opposed to one large chunk of text. The whole idea of these features is to make the app usage as simplistic and easy to use as possible.
