No way, I remember having to do a similar exercise in second/third grade — although I had nearly forgotten about the ordeal until now! It’s surreal to think we’ve come this far.

I love this post. You present a clear progression of events while representing the apparent seriousness of the task at hand. I’m sure, given the limited outlook of most second graders — with the majority unaware of the nature of accomplishment — you had more than a few considerations to make as to how to set up the tone of this piece. In my opinion, you’ve seamlessly balanced the whimsical nature of your second-grade-self with the present day.
