“No beauty shines brighter than that of a good heart.”

As I sit back and reflect on how I have been feeling lately, I am beginning to believe that having a big heart is almost more of a curse than a blessing. I find joy in doing things for others and do them in different ways without even thinking at times. Maybe this is a selfish way of thinking, but I have just assumed that others are the same way, but that isn’t always the case.

Along with having a big heart comes big heartbreaks and disappointments. We all have to accept the fact that people are not always loving and loyal; their hearts are not as big and caring as ours. We won’t always be appreciated for the things that we do, we won’t always have the same effort reciprocated.

As we give our hearts to others and share our love and kindness, we make ourselves vulnerable. We show our true colors and allow ourselves to get hurt. Through the trials and heartache, we survive, we make it out stronger than before. Although we might be more protective and skeptical of who we share our hearts with, we continue to learn from these experiences and grow as people.

We continue to love endlessly, despite all the hurt. We are a light to others. Maybe having a big heart isn’t much of a curse after all…because we are a blessing to those around us, and that is enough.
