Great way to frame it Noah. In addition to being a conversation starter the map also doubles as a punching bag, allowing participants to argue about the map instead of at each other.

I agree that separating the analysis concerns from the story telling concerns is a HUGE part of this. Would be great if there wasn’t such a huge gap between the two though. What might systems maps look like if they were designed to tell stories instead?
