Every industry, and thus the world, is becoming information-enabled. An information-enabled world requires a mindset shift from linear to exponential growth. Linear companies focus on strategy and planning, while exponential organizations focus on purpose and execution. Linear companies seldom disrupt their own products or services. Exponential companies thrive in a disruptive environment and are perpetually paranoid they will be disrupted.
If you’re interested in books that alter the way you think about the world, read Salim Ismails, Exponential Organizations. This is one of the few that has not only changed some of my mental models, but created a new one.
