JetPack Seeks Flight With Crowdfunding

How JetPack Aviation intends to launch the world of personal flight.

You’ve probably taken a handful of flights in your life. But you’ve likely never flown. We interviewed leaders at JetPack Aviation about their revolutionary product, their company culture, and their decision to raise capital from the crowd on StartEngine.

JetPack flies around The Statue of Liberty.

What is JetPack Aviation? Tell us a bit about the company.

JetPack Aviation is dedicated to bringing personal flight to the world. Nelson Tyler and I have been working together for ten years to make the JetPack a reality, we have pretty much sunk all our own money into it.
Together we have created JB10, the world’s first true portable jetpack. This jet turbine powered backpack is capable of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL), is extremely light and small and can easily be carried around by the pilot. It is powerful enough to lift the pilot quickly to thousands of feet above the ground but small enough to fit into the trunk of a car.

What is your mission?

Personal freedom. We are 100% sure that one day the world will move from point to point using personal air vehicles. This will change everything.

How do you see JetPack Aviation making a difference in the world?

One day people will commute by jetpack or by using our electrically powered VTOL car, and JetPack Aviation will be there, leading the way. But commuting isn’t the only thing jetpacks are good for. While personal flight is a dream come true for science fiction fans, there are many practical uses that open up possibilities for humans every day.
The jetpack will be a game-changer for the military, firefighters, law enforcement, disaster recovery, and recreation. We want to change the way people move.

Why did you choose to raise from the crowd?

We don’t think you should have to be a multi-millionaire to own a jetpack. While an individual can’t make a company happen by themselves, they can be a part of something big and make something get big much faster by being a part of it.
I’d much rather have thousands of people invest a little bit than 10 people invest a huge amount. Jetpacks are a thing that appeals to everybody, so let’s get everybody involved. Having thousands of shareholders is something the whole team will be motivated by — it will feel like a cheering squad pushing us all along to do better and better.

What is the best part about working at JetPack Aviation?

Everyone here at JPA loves what they do. The teams knows that we’re working on machines that will one day be part and parcel of how the world moves. And that’s incredibly exciting. Plus working everyday right next to a fully operational jetpack is pretty cool.

What is the one piece of technology the JetPack Aviation team cannot live without?

Microprocessors and turbine engines and… coffee, lots and lots of coffee!
