Computer is vital tool for accessing and processing information and data, as it is the first window to access the internet. Computers are essential part of modern era,they are beneficial for various fields various purposes. It has a great impact in every aspect of life starting from banks, offices, hospitals to a small pharmacy and departmental store.
Computer is made up of different types of hardware and software devices but the thing which is mainly responsible for working of computer is a low level software that controls and coordinates the computer hardware devices and runs other software applications on computer. It is the main part of system software and computer will not function without it this software is known as “operating system” of computer.
WHAT IS OPERATING SYSTEM???
Early computers were built to perform a series of single task like calculator. Basic operating systems features were developedin 1950s, that could automatically run different programs in succession to speed up processing. An operating system (OS) manages all other applications and programs in a computer, and it is loaded into a computer by a boot program. It enables application interface, the application program request services from operating system (API). Operating system is a program that manages computer hardware, software resources, and provides common services for computer programs.it gives jobs to processor and manages its resources. An operating system manages the allocation and de-allocation of the memory to various processes and ensures that the other process doesnot consume the memory allocated to one process. Furthermore there are various input output devices an (OS) controls the working of these input — output devices. It receives the request from these devices, performs a specific task, and communicates back to the requesting process.an operating system keeps track of information regarding the creation deletion transfer copy ad storage of files in an organized way. It also maintains the integrity of data stored in these files, including the file directory structure, by protecting against unauthorized access. The last main function of operating system is that is that it supports all kinds of application software that are already installed on our computers. Such applications includeaccounting software, media player, and word processor. These applications work continuously as long as the computer is operated an usual several applications are being run at the same time and provide them basic services. All these functions are basic necessity to any computer system in the world this is the one reason why operating system are preinstalled in every computer because no computer can work without any operating system.

As mentioned above there are many operating systems but today we cannot ignore the importance of windows as one of examples. Windows is group of several proprietary graphical operating system families developed and marketed by ”Microsoft” which was founded and developed by (Bill Gates and Paul Allen) on 4th of April 1975 to develop and sell basic interpreters for Altair 8800,and it is one of the most used and famous operating system with approx. 75% market shares as of April 2022. Windows comes preloaded on most new personal computers from those brands, this helps to make it most popular operating system in the whole world.
WINDOWS 8:
Windows 8 is the major release of windows (NT) operating system developed by Microsoft. Windows 8 code-name Midori, is a version of Microsoft windows that was released on October 26,2012. This iteration contains some of the biggest changes in Microsoft has made to their operating system since windows 95. It features new programming and technology that makes computer run faster than previous version. It has more streamline look and feel. Windows 8 includes a tablet interface, called metro which is compatible with touch screen display and still offers access to the traditional windows desktop.

2. WINDOWS 8 PRO:
Windows 8 pro is comparable to windows 7 professional and ultimate and is targeted towards enthusiasts and business users it includes all features of windows 8 in addition to it the ability to receive Remote Desktop connections, the ability to participate in windows server domain ,Encrypting file system, virtual hard disk booting and windows media center.
3. WINDOWS 8 ENTERPRISE:
It provides all features in windows8 (except the ability to install the windows Media Centre add-on), with additional features to assist with IT Organization table. This feature of windows is available for software programmers.
4. WINDOWS RT:
Windows RT is only available or pre installed on ARM based devices such as tablets PCs. It includes touch-optimized desktop versions of the basic set of office 2013 applications to users –Microsoft word, Excel, Power Point and OneNote. However it does not include a feature like group policy and domain support.
