HOW TO BOOST A WORK ENERGY (WITH ALL YOUR SENSES)
No matter what your job title or profession is, as most people, you also must be somewhere between getting drained (and quitting) and wanting to be more productive. Working hard today is no fun most of the time. As the productivity got higher at the same time the employment got lower, a regular guy (hold your horses: and a girl as well, it’s just an expression) found himself in the middle of it — working more and receiving tasks that usually take more than few people to get it done. And while at it, it’s expected of him to be dedicated to the family, friends and himself. So little time and so much to do.

Let’s see how we can help with this issue. As sense is a physiological capacity of organisms that provides data for perception, according to its definition, we’ll go that way and try to provide a solution for every sense. By doing so, we are increasing energy level at all check points, waking up the entire body and most fatigued pieces of your mind. And soul.
We’ll start with TASTE:
First of all, be sure to have a small breakfast to kick-start your metabolism as soon as you wake up. Whether it is an apple, a piece of cheese on toast, or even a large spoon of honey — no matter how modest it is — it will help you start the day.
Once you inaugurated a day with it, fill your pocket with a handful of almonds or peanuts. Both are high in magnesium and folic acid, which are crucial for energy and cell production. Being down on it can leave you feel all jaded and weary. Reach out for these snack at the first sign of lassitude.
Needless to say, drink as much water as you can to keep your body well hydrated. The first clue that you are not getting enough water is the feeling of thirst. You should never get to that point. Besides, walk to the refrigerator or a tap on water breaks is also good for you.
What’s next? Let’s see… Oh, right! It’s a SIGHT:
You know that unpleasant feeling you get when your eyes just had enough of staring into the screen? One simple trick will do.
It is called 20–20–20 rule:
Look at something 20 feet away from your monitor for 20 seconds every 20 minutes. Can’t be easier, agree?
Next in line is TOUCH:
We propose facial massage, simple as it is, it can increase circulation and reduce stress, leaving you relaxed and calm. Or, at least — calmer, on a really busy day.
Use wide circular strokes on outer side of your face and massage along the sides of the jaw. Continue towards and over your cheekbones, pushing your skin up and out. Then, with broad circular motion massage both sides of your forehead at the same time. Do each one for at least a minute. Finish with a gently facial massage at each part of the face and you are as good as new.
And now, the SMELL:
Get orange or any other citrus oil. You can apply it directly to the skin, rubbing it on temples and back of your neck. Another way is to simply take a strong whiff now and then, straight from the bottle for an instant pick-me-up. Also, on your water breaks, just add a couple drops to water — it works like magic as citrus oils are fantastic at increasing energy immediately. You’ll be more focused and productive thanks to its therapeutic benefits — among them are of the utmost importance mood lifting and stress removing.
Also, you can simply grab a cinnamon stick as whiffing of this scented spice can reduce fatigue and make you feel more alert.
And let’s hear about the HEARING:
It’s not like we’ll discover some game changing thing here, it’s quite simple: earphones. Any time, any place you can. And of course, your favorite music on it. Whether it’s classical, rock, pop or jazz, your beloved tunes will sure to get you in the right mood. This is especially important to do if you commute. Listen to music on the way to work and back home so you can focus on what’s going on inside of you. It’s good to know things like that.
And now that we covered all five senses, it’s time for a handful of advices for your 6th sense:
· Laugh a lot. Laughter cures everything and it’s a natural energizer.
· Let the sunshine in. A couple of minutes’ walk enhances your mood, memory, and the ability to take in new information.
· Perk up a day with a quick catch up with a close friend. Spare 15 minutes on a phone call in the middle of a working day or meet up and have a lunch. This will surely recharge your batteries and give you so needed support to continue with a day even if it is a hard one.
Just remember — focus is not on business results. It’s on staying happy, the only thing that make sense. Use your senses to get and stay there.
