Tutorial: How to send and receive $ATOM from CEX using Keplr Wallet 2.0

Whether you’re a crypto exchange (CEX) enthusiast or skeptic, it’s hard to deny that CEX platforms are the starting point for many newcomers in crypto. However, decentralized exchanges (DEX) are gaining popularity among traders, and they’re causing a significant impact in the crypto market.

Our guide will take you through the steps of sending tokens between your CEX account and Keplr. This will bring you one step closer to exploring the Cosmos ecosystem.

Set-up

1. Open account at crypto exchanges (for example Binance, Indodax, etc)
2. Create Keplr wallet (Keplr extension)

Send ATOM from CEX to Keplr Wallet

• Open Keplr extension
• Click Deposit

Note: Important! This tutorial covers the process of sending $ATOM tokens (Cosmos Hub) to your Keplr wallet. It’s crucial not to send any other tokens from crypto exchanges to your Keplr wallet (Cosmos Hub) to avoid potential token loss.

• Choose Cosmos Hub and click the copy link button

Note: Tokens sent from CEX to Keplr Wallet do not require a memo.

• Please paste this address into the recipient field when sending the token from your CEX account. Take a moment to verify that the address is correct
• After sending your ATOMS to Keplr, you should be able to see your available balance.

Note: For those sending tokens to Keplr Wallet for the first time, we recommend starting with a small amount as a trial run

Send ATOM from Keplr Wallet to CEX

• Open Keplr Extension and click Send

• Choose $ATOM (Cosmos Hub) token.

• Enter the information:
• Wallet Address or ICNS: Input your ATOM (Cosmos Hub) CEX address
• Amount: The amount of ATOM
• Memo: Input the memo provided by the centralized exchange

Token transfer to CEX requires a memo. A memo is a unique identifier used to differentiate between transactions to the same recipient address on the same cryptocurrency network

• Once done, click Next

Note: Take a moment to review all details carefully. Incorrect information may result in token loss.

• After the transaction is confirmed, you should receive the ATOM balance in your CEX account.
