How to delete iMessage apps
Since I’m the creator of a popular language app called Learnji (👉you should check it out, it’s fun and has lots of emojis👈) and a fairly popular sticker app called Kaomotion, I’ve seen a lot of the problems with iMessage apps: controls are hidden or unclear.
For that reason I’ve been asked about how one can delete a previously installed iMessage app. And while it’s not that hard to do, I can see how it takes some guessing to find the solution. I’m writing this post so I can point anyone here in the future with the same problem.
- maybe you’ll be also interested in knowing how you can delete a previously misplaced sticker? Here’s the solution.
There are two ways to accomplish this:
1. Completely delete a sticker pack/iMessage application from your phone
- tap the App Store icon in the iMessage conversation view
- tap the apps icon on the bottom left (4 rounded grey rectangles)
- long-tap the app you want to delete (they’ll start wiggling)
- delete just like you’d delete any app on your phone
- done
This strategy is probably the right one to delete all of the 💩 apps from your phone that existing apps installed into your phone without your consent.
2. Remove your sticker pack/iMessage app from iMessage, but keep it on the phone.
If you don’t want to be as drastic as above and keep it on your phone for later use, you can just momentarily suppress them.
Continue after step 2) above.
- tap the blue (+) store button in the app overview panel
- tap the “Manage” tab
- here you can simply deactivate any app you wish
3. Restoring previously deleted iMessage apps
If you’re missing any app you’ve previously deleted from your phone, you’ll find them in your “Purchases” in your iTunes/App Store account.
