There is more to data then you think

In the last post I talked about the need to set up good data housing practices for existing as well as up and coming companies. While ensuring that each data point is labeled properly is necessary, what is sometimes missed over is the sheer volume of data that exists in an organization. Missing data during the housing initiative could mean that team and individuals will not be able to retrieve the insights they need. Bringing those new data sets up into our your data warehouse is not difficult but that does not mean that it will be easy in any sense.

When establishing a new BI tool, its better to have a solid foundation of information prior to putting the top level visuals on. The lesson of this is that for anyone in this position, one must factor in all needs and take the proper care and if needed push those deadlines back to ensure that what is done is done properly.
