My Pomodoro Experiment

What I did was that I went in the university library, sat in a cubicle and decided to learn a complete chapter from a book of a course software requirement engineering. I set 1 hour for reading and understanding the chapter using pomodoro technique. I read for 25 minutes with intense focus avoiding any messages and phone calls and then took break for 5 to 10 minutes. I just cleared my mind without doing anything during break because even if you are watching TV or using mobile phone even then your mind is involved in something and technically it is not a break.

It was not difficult but the thing was it felt little robotic and unnatural. But at the same time it cleared up the mind. It works bit like a machine that you use it and then you give it break so that you can use later without any damage. If you use all that at one time it may crash. The same is with the mind, to use it effectively for longer period you have to give it break so you can gather energy. 25 minutes of intense razor focus that use maximum mental energy and then 10 minutes break without doing any leisure activity to regain that energy.
It was not the same and I did accomplish more just because I could save and mange my energy. And it’s better than managing time. And I will try best to use it regularly and I will use my weekly and daily to do list with this technique to improve the experience although sometimes your instinct calls you to drop all this and get back to the previous pattern because its feels comfortable.
