Let’s make some actions

We are going to create a simple trivia from templates to get started.
The Trivia Action template lets you create Actions without writing a single line of code.

The template lets you choose a personality and specify the questions, answers, and configuration for the Action in a Google Sheet. Then, after completing these quick steps, you’ll have a fully working Action that you can test and submit for approval.

Let’s get our engine started.

  1. Go to https://console.actions.google.com
  2. Enter a name for your project and click CREATE PROJECT.

3. After creating the project go to Click on Templates under More options.

4. Select Trivia after clicking on Templates.

5. Select any one of the following Personality.

6. Click on Next and then click on Get Started.
In the prompt, click Trivia Template, which opens a new tab.

Click Make a copy

7. Update the Questions & Answers tab of your sheet copy with your own questions, answers, and hints. Try adding fun follow-ups that give users extra facts about the answer.

8. Update the Configuration tab of the sheet with the name of your Action.

9. Click on Share tab on the upper left corner and make it public.

10. Go back to your action console and copy and paste your Google Sheet’s URL into the text field and click UPLOAD.

11. Click on Create App.

12. After your application is created without any errors test your app in the simulator.

Submit your Action.

After creating and testing your application you have to submit it for production.

To submit your Action, do the following:

  1. Go to the Overview page for your project in the Actions Console.
  2. Under Quick setup, click Decide how your Action is invoked.
  3. Set the following options and click Save.
  4. Display Name: Enter your Action’s name for the directory. This name is presented to users in the Assistant Directory.
  5. Google Assistant voice: Pick which voice you would like your Action to use. You can hear audio samples of each voice on the Languages and Locales page.
  6. Navigate to Deploy > Directory information and enter information for the following sections:

Privacy and Consent Settings

For Privacy and consent category, you need to some additional things as follows:

  1. Click on LEARN MORE

2. After this, one popup will appear. Click on sample doc.

3. Delete the top part of the document and Change ${APPNAME} to your Google assistant action name and change ${DEVELOPER} to your name and change the sharing option to the public and copy and paste URL in the Privacy Policy Tab.

In the Additional Information category, choose the “Education and Reference” category.
You can leave the other things as it is i.e selected by default.

NOTE: Don’t forget to save all this. For saving all this, just scroll up and then you will see SAVE button in the top right side.

The Final Step

Click on Submit for production in the Deploy Tab.

After Submitting your action for production wait for some days to get your action published.

Congratulations

You will receive these two emails from Google after getting your action published.

NOTE: It takes time to receive the email. Please be patient.
