My role and team:

I primarily worked on taking interviews and designing the I-Track application and as my other teammates contributed to giving ideas and researching more about the Assignment.

The aim of the article

  1. To share the awareness of how few students do have a budget but spend carelessly and spend more than they should be.
  2. Encouraging students to keep track of their weekly spending so they have knowledge about their spending.
  3. To help them to do savings or try to help them reduce their expenses.

Goal

Our goal was to ask universities students if they have a budget allowance as some students might not be comfortable spending more than a certain amount of money in the university. And if they keep track of their money if yes, how do they do it.

Topic research

So, my team and I have interviewed some universities students to get to know about their weekly budget and if they keep track of it and as proof, we have recorded some of our interviews

The following links will take you to a few of the interview recorded by me and my team.

Potential Users Interviews

We have selected students, who have time and don't have time to record their allowance as their daily schedule is loaded fully. We chose this category of people to understand the pain points and their day to day challenges.

  • We took out what is common in my and my teammates' interviews

Key Quotes from user:

“No I don’t have a weekly budget.”
“Yes, I do have a weekly budget but mostly can’t keep track of it.”
“I have more than enough to spend.”
“I have a certain amount to spend.”

How does student with budget track their spending?

  • By writing down the bill or amount they have spent.
  • By saving up the bills.
  • By making notes on the phone of how much they spent on a certain day.

A prototype of an application

So we created a prototype application which would help the students to create an account in which they would add their budget and that would continuously remind our students about their budget or if they are getting low of budget. Our application can also be used as saving account too.

explaining how our application works to a student who needs to keep track of his money.

Persona

Name: Kanye

Age: 19

Nationality: Dubai

Kanye is 19 years old studying in middle sex university the main problem in his life is regarding his finance and budget he does have track of his budget but he is unhappy with it as he saves up his bills and at times he forget to save or ask for bill or lose’s the bill. He wants an app or a tool which can actually track his spending's and would help keep a fix weekly budget. An app which can also keep a track where he spends or alert him if he’s spending to much.

Summary

On day 1, we were asked to submit 20 problems we face in our daily life. On the 2nd day we were told to pick one problem which we think is a main stream problem and get a hunt statement out of it. Our hunt statement was “we want to study the weekly spending of our student to help them manage their finance.” Then we were asked to get a how might we (HMW) statement so ours was “to have a healthy spending habits and to keep track of it.” Then we were asked to make a persona by the interviews we had taken that would fit our target audience. On day 3 we were asked to create a prototype of our application which we chose would be an application which would help to set a budget as that would be the most viable approach to enable our students to track their money and to have a fixed budget. We gave shape to our application on a paper with the goal that we don’t get excessively connected, making it impossible to the outcome and get hesitant to transform it. After we completed our model we needed to go out and indicate it to outsiders and get their criticism on it.

Conclusion

In light of the meetings with the students, we have devised a definite pattern. It will symbolises the youngsters to utilise this application in the event that it fits into their way of life. Which would help the students to keep track of their finance.
