Week 1: Dear Lima…Saying Hola to My Sojourn
Dear Lima,
As I step onto your vibrant soil, I’m awash with a sense of anticipation and wonder, as if I’m about to embark on an enchanting journey through the canvas of your existence. I am Saanvi Ram, a wanderer of knowledge and a humble visitor in your midst. From the heartland of Iowa, I bring with me dreams as expansive as your sprawling landscapes and aspirations as limitless as your cerulean skies.
The opportunity to dive into your world of culture and innovation, courtesy of the World Food Prize’s Borlaug-Ruan International Internship, is a cherished privilege. It’s a chance to intertwine my passions for policy and research with the threads of your story, hopefully contributing to the progress and resilience that defines your being.
In these initial fleeting moments, as I compose my first blog entry, I find myself wrapped in the pulsating energy of your city, as if time itself has ceased to exist. Though only twenty four hours have drifted by since my arrival, each passing moment feels like a brushstroke on the canvas of eternity. Such is the enchantment of your allure, Lima, an alchemy of sights, sounds, and sensations.
Today, in about an hour, marks the beginning of a new chapter in my journey as I join the International Potato Center (CIP) to delve into the intricacies of the PLRV virus. Wish me luck! I’ll be sure to keep you updated on my progress through these blog entries.
With heartfelt gratitude and eager anticipation,
Saanvi
