Hey Iva, thanks for dropping by.

I am passionate about people, otherwise I wouldn’t have written this piece in the first place. Ignoring a person means to just get on with your life and disregarding them, which is something I couldn’t do.
The main reason why I wrote this article, was to raise the important question of society’s obligation in similar situations.
For example — should you approach and talk to a homeless person or bring them food? Should you offer them your couch for the night?
And what about those who aren’t near, but still need help? Like children in a war-zone in Syria, for example. Are we obliged to help them? If so, how?

From my personal experience, many of those who live on the streets, for example, do not want to be approached, yet they do need help. The fact is, most people, including myself, aren’t really sure how to act. As I mentioned in a previous reply, there are many different reasons why people end up live on the streets, and therefore finding a way to help them should start by figuring out those different reasons.

As I stated in my article, I personally believe that each one of us should use his or her skills and abilities to help those in need as much as they can. One might be able to open up a field-hospital in a war-zone, another can use their writing skills to raise awareness for a specific issue.

You are more than welcome to contribute to the conversation and share your personal point of view. That would be appreciated by all readers.

Either way, I’m sure that both you and I agree that judgemental comments probably isn’t the way forward…
