I’ve been looking for a way to share my thoughts and beliefs with others. I hope you will find some interest in what I have to say. Please do let me know what you think, I’m here only because of you and for you.

Today I have been inspired by a website called ‘FutureMe’. The Idea is simple: You write a letter to yourself and choose when in the future you’d like to receive it. Please visit https://www.futureme.org/ and write a letter to your Future-Self. I promise you it’s worth it. Please come back and read the rest of my post once you’re done with your letter.

Dear Present You,

It seems like most people share the same wishes for their future.
They want to be happy.

Quite a lot of people, whether they realize it or not, have a clear picture of how to feel happy. Quitting their job, and using their skills to do something meaningful to them. Spending their time doing something they love. Improving their relationships with their loved ones. Showing gratitude towards themselves and others. It’s absolutely wonderful.
Most people don’t fully appreciate how well they actually know themselves. How they can simply put their thoughts, feelings and even goals in one piece of short text. But you just did that!

The funny thing is, it is actually easy for us to write a letter to our future-self since it feels like writing a letter to a friend or writing a song/story. It disconnects us from the moment and allows us to feel free, honest and be our pure self.
Just like me, you most likely just wrote a letter to yourself (yourself in the future is still yourself) stating what makes you feel bad, and what you wish for yourself in the future, in order to feel good.
I’m not going to be a cheap motivator and say ‘Hey, just go out there and do it!’. No. However, all I’m going to ask you to do is to think of what you wrote. Feel what you wrote. Be confident about what you wrote — right now. The power of knowing, of feeling, of understanding yourself is the first step of your progress. A progress towards happiness.

Now, let me be clear. I won’t be able to reach happiness. You won’t be able to reach happiness. Because happiness is a feeling, not an eternal state.
It’s about power. The power of being truthful to who you are. That, and only that will get you to make the choices for yourself. Those choices will sometime be completely irrational to the world, but they will be truly yours, and that’s what makes them right.

So all your hopes..? They are not dreams. They are not illusions. Those are REAL. This is you, in your true shape. It’s simply the hopes that lead to fulfilling yourself, in many ways, on many levels. It’s not an A to B sort of thing. We don’t ‘reach’ fulfillment just like we don’t reach happiness. We feel it… And what a great feeling that is, right?!

So, how do we do that? Start by being truthful with yourself. Just like we did with our letters. Because if happiness is a feeling and not a state, then you shouldn’t focus on getting to that destination — but simply make sure your journey is YOURS.

Love,
PRESENT YOU
