I don’t actually think that Pizza’s and Video Games are great examples. Proper food will keep you loving it till the last succulent mouthful is swallowed, ‘real’ games where one person is pitting his/her talents and hard worked skills with another will hold our excitement to the final shot/strike/punch? Likewise, great books should hold your attention from the beginning to the end.

I do agree that the beginning is everything — but once we’re hooked in, the writing should hold us there. I’m just going back to the top to write another first line of this…)
