It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s a Cape

This fall, expect a visit from an infamous, seriously stylish superpower. The cape, flying down runways in designers’ latest collections, is versatile, practical, and packs some serious “pow.” At Moschino, model Molly Bair closed the Italian house’s show clad in a brilliant red, distressed-edged ensemble, blazing behind her as she made a heroic exit. Elsewhere, New York-based designer, Carolina Herrera, incorporated on-trend color blocking into a neutral wool capelette sure to outrun the autumn winds. Chloe’s Clare Waight Keller, meanwhile, made use of multicolored, over-sized shaggy materials to liven up the scene with comic-level quirk. In stunning contrast, Valentino introduced a more understated, commanding elegance, layering sheer, scallop-trimmed mesh over an ominous black silhouette for a touch of femme fatale. In a universe of possibilities, there’s never been a better time to embrace your inner, oh-so-stylish superhero.
