So what do I do tonight. There is a lull in the sports world and as I look through espn I realize that there are tons of minutes to fill and nothing to fill it with. No wonder all the personal stuff is outed about these players anymore, how many articles on last nights game can there be? There is little empowerment as a fan anymore and the exposure to sports that this generation is getting will probably cost the professional leagues more fans than people think. I think what needs to happen eventually is sports need to grow by having a fanbase and thus watchers that is not based on locality. They need to eliminate the city title and just go with the names and market to the entire world. This is one way to get the fan involved from areas where there is no team, including other countries. There also needs to be a way to allow free access to sports to the millions of poor people around the world. While it may seem a pitance for some to pay $150 to watch games, this can be a deterant to others to do so. Think of it like basic economics, creating a barrier to entrance is what leads to fewer competitors and possible monopolies. Same concept here as we make following “my” team impossible for most ot the worl. Just random thoughts as I sit here with nothing I want to watch.
