There are no Shires but only Battlefields in professional life.

A lot of us in our professional lives tend to get comfortable. Either when we have spent too much time in a company or we have joined a new company where the bosses are not as strict or evil as our previous employers. Basically whenever we encounter a professional environment that does not push us for survival every single day.

What does this state of comfort do?

It makes us believe that the world has become this happy place where I can come on time leave on time and bear no hardships but still get all rewards of professional success including promotions and increments or what some people call as raise.

What’s the reality?

The reality is exactly the opposite. There are no shires or countryside lounges for anyone. Every organisation is in a state of war.

The stages of war may differ. Some would have just won a battle and hence there would be some resting time. Some, would be preparing to enter their first battle. And thus, there would be no cross fire. But eventually everyone will go to the battlefield and that’s when you need to be ready. That’s when you need to fight for survival every single day and ensure that you live and make sure you kill the enemy or the exact opposite will happen.

This is for people who think they joined a Shire, and things were supposed to be nice, happy, fun, almost carnival like. Then, why are suddenly targets becoming unrealistic, meetings becoming longer and bosses becoming Generals with no respect to personal lives or reputations.

Wake up guys… if you want to be successful and happy at the same time, then you need to be battle ready at all times. You need to be prepared for WAR every single day. Be prepared to Kill the enemy. You need to enjoy this war every day. But you also need to disconnect, even if it is only for a few hours.

If you don’t train yourself to be a war veteran, if you don’t have fun walking into the battle field every day, then buddy you need to retire. Yes, retire.

No matter what you do, there will be a battle. It’s just which ones you enjoy and which ones you don’t. So, choose them wisely, but be prepared to FIGHT!!!

Because Shires are only for Hobbits and Hobbits are fictitious characters…
