Bhopal is the city of Madhya Pradesh which has many prehistoric caves, Mesolithic time brought its site. Under the progressive administration of the Kings and Begums Bhopal attained the pinnacle of its culture, arts, and public works. Bhopal started with the Parama Raja Bhoj (1000- 1055).

Parama Raja bhoj
Parama Raja Bhoj

Which we take as ground zero i.e. from where Evolution starts. The bank where Bada Talab creation takes place, after the creation near the Raja Bhoj dam region it got Cenobites, few peoples started living and one community was slowly built. Basically, Gond tribe and Dheel tribe were set up. Therefore Madhya Pradesh became the place of tribes. Raja Bhoj created the dam where 100 lake waters will be connected, from there the Bhoj pal was prepared and then Bhopal was known from the name of Bhoj pal. Gond and Dheel were the old inhabitants of Malwa and all the farming's were involved and the gonds tribe were very loyal towards the Bhoj. Raja Bhoj was very impressed and gifted them the Bhopal jagirs(holdings) so as to become land holders. Gond have certain time periods where they ruled. But then what happened the Nizam shah gonds was a ruler who married rani kamlapati and whose name was kept for Habib Ganj railway. So rani- kamlapati’s lower lake was known as ‘pool puktha’ where rani Kamalpati statue was built.

So war started and dost mohammad khan succeeded to kill alaam shah and rani kamlapati gave thousand nagad, fifty thousand currency, bhopals jariyu. From now on Dost mohammad khan started ruling bhopal and he made it as a capital, for this reason he went to jagdisthpur village. Basically that time bhopal region was divided into 2 parts i.e. Besariya and Bujur. In bujur region dost mohammad wants to make its own capital so he changed the jagdisthpur into Islam Nagar re-establishing Islam Nagar fort he built. He made his quarters and all and started ruling. But then when dost muhammad khan died then his son who is yaar mohammad khan once again shift his capital and bring it back to bhopal.Yaar mohammad khan built fatehgarh fort and many more. Islamnagar fort was there but capital was shift to bhopal because the islam nagar from bhopal base it was very far, from there ruling was very difficult. As the region was very Hindu oriented and these are mughal they wanted to make their kingdom all over. Therefore they shifted the capital back to bhopal. Fatehgarh fort was a huge fort. Jama masjid was raja bhoj sabhagrah(courtyard) Ginnorgarh fort one part was there, these are demolished already. Fatehgarh fort and islamnagar fort was made by dost mohammad. His son yaar mohammad shifted the capital back to fatehgarh fort. After yaar mohammad death his son Faise mohammad khan came to rule as he was elder son among all the siblings. After faise mohammad death his brother Hayaad mohammad take the charge and started ruling, Hayaad mohammad khan have 2 sons they are Gaus mohammad and Taj mohammad khan. So ghaus mohammad khan came into rule after Hayaad mohammad khan, he has not done much construction. Later wazir mohammad khan wielded power and tried to influence the britishers and married to rajput lady and had 2 sons Ammer mohammad khan and nazar mohammad khan.Nazar mohammad khan became his successor and remained in power. He married to qulsiya begum and after 3 yrs of ruling nazar mohammad khan died, as his daughter was too small to rule, so qulsiya begum took the lead and ruled. She began building jama masjid, gauhar mahal, and railway lines were established.

Qulsiya Begum

After qulsiya begum zahangir mohammad khan who is sikandar begum’s husband ruled for 7 yrs and died.

Sikandar Begum

Sikandar begum take charge and built so many like noor bagh, kul jahangirabad etc.

Shah Jahan Begum

After that shah jahan begum came into rule and she started building moti masjid, moti mahal, farad abja, jodhpur as bangla area was established and after that near to moti masjid all the area was established, in terms of education she built lot of schools as she was also well educated like she knows persia, urdu, official languages. So that period moti mahal, ekbal medani, baba sikendri, simahal gate all that came into this.Tajul masajid was considered asia’s largest musk. So motia talab which was there under tajul masajid is supposed to be a place where 10,000 people can do masjid, for that reason Motie talab was built. At the time of building Tajul masjid sikandar begum parted them, as it doesn’t become the largest musk but it is a significance.

Sultana Begum

After that sultana begum came and built a school, started a ladies club. In 19 centuries so many Sultani was built Ambedkar palace was established, in Lal ghat the musjid like sultanic school, sultanic hospitals, old Vidhan Sabha, old museum, Hamdiyah library built at the time of sultania begum. Last ruler Hamidullah khan tree design with britisers that to keep begum far from this ruling. This is how the whole ruling things came into act and we get to know how it evolved when the Bhopal nawabs and begums were in charge, the city of Bhopal thrived. Earlier, Bhopal was primarily populated by Muslims. But today, Hindus make up the bulk of the population. The industrial sections of Bhopal, which include cotton and textile companies, important government agencies, the pharmaceutical industry, etc, form a big part of the city’s economy.
