I agree with a lot of what you said and like so many I will only write on what I didn’t. LOL. I liked your speech and the nuance you showed. I enjoyed the tone that was neither one side or the other but a person who is both. An individual that exists with the blinds of ANY ideology. I admire and identify with that.

The one part I don’t agree with is the monuments. Personally I don’t care. Keep them or trash them it is all the same to me. But if I was asked I would say that it was people that put them up not gods. That what a person has created is not holy and immutable. If the community wants to take them down then they should have the right, as much right as if they want to keep them.

History is uncaring to the monuments we put up in her name. Inviolate she stands, unstoppable and implacable, her truth will always be the one truth. Not stone, bronze, steel, and the marker of man.
