I had a bodybuilder friend who won many local and national competitions. He said he was the most unhealthy person I’d ever met. Strong, ripped, aesthetically gorgeous but his body was destroyed by drugs, starvation and binge eating. He suffered from body dysphoria he was never big enough, never ripped enough, never enough for himself. He ripped his body apart in obsession. At some point we need to address that the people we are holding up as the perfect bodies when they are some of the sickest most tormented people I’ve met.
