I’m not sure about the majority part but I’d agree that many couples slip in one way or another. I see that more as an aberration in the relationship rather than its failure. If you are faithful for 10 years and you slip then go back to being monogamous I’d say you’re still monogamous. Kind of of like a vegetarian that eats meat on night and then goes back to being a vegetarian.

This is not condoning cheating but is more as a way to explain my use of the word monogamous. Rarely have I met people who cheated who then wanted an open relationship. Not that it doesn’t happen.
