INTERESTED CHALLENGE
#How to win friends and influence people

What did I learn from reading chapter 2 (Do this and you’ll be welcome anywhere)of “How to win friends and influence people”.
Every one in this world is hungry for respect. Every one want others attention and to feel important in front of the society or locality. But to feel respected or to be considered as an important person, one must also respect others and give importance to others. The conclusion of the chapter is that if you will give importance to others or respect others then you’ll be paid in the same coins or might be even better.
What did I experience while taking the “Interested Challenge”
I am really grateful to amal academy for providing us this task. I am usually an introvert type person (in strange environment only) and I usually talk with others (strangers or to whom I’ve met on few occasions) only when it’s necessary but to experiment this challenge I had to talk to others making them feel important for me and I was really surprised by the behavior of others. I mean the way they responded to my kindness was amazing.
I am doing an internship at NLC. It is a Pakistani logistics company run by the Pakistan Army and is one of the leading crisis management government authority in the country. At work, I had conversations with few employees that were having age of over 50. I’ll discuss two of them considering the short time I have to write a blog. Actually, they have been working for the company for about 25+ years. Mr Yousuf is the one who is responsible to provide us tea/lunch, he would usually leave the room after providing tea but few days ago when he entered the room as usual I started talking to him, I asked about his health, for how long is he working here? Is he happy with his job? etc. and I noticed that instead of leaving the room he sat next to me and started telling me his history of working in that organization that how the culture has changed throughout and how to deal with people here. Moreover, I was succeeded in knowing the monthly pay he is receiving:).
The other one named Mr Alvin is like a office boy and usually is responsible for having a signature on different receipts. I applied same procedure on him, talked with him for a while in my room, asking him the same question about his health, work, happiness etc. and you wouldn’t believe that on exiting the room he said “Thank you Sadiq Bhai”. I just thought wow!, have I paid him? have I helped him in receiving some signs? No, not at all. I even didn’t move from my chair then why is he thanking me? The answer is very simple, I made him feel important where others don’t.
I learned from this challenge that if you have the ability to win people, you’re the richest person on the earth. I also learned that senior citizens require attention. I will request to those having their parents in that age zone that give them time, sit with them, talk to them. They might not need your money but they are in huge need of seeking your attention. I know that parents are always important but please Make them feel important.
