5 Awesome Ways To Earn A Halal Income Online
--
Ever since I first heard about the possibility of making an income online in early 2005, I’ve been totally intrigued. The idea of sitting at home and making money doing something you love sounded like a dream come true to me.
No employee headaches, no expensive overheads, no huge start-up costs.
I ove in headfirst and in 2006, I started learning all I could about this intriguing world of making money online. After many false starts, I started a blog on ADHD in 2008 and have successfully been making money online since then.
Over the years, I’ve explored many different options for making money online and in this article, I want to share these options with you.
I’ve narrowed the options down to the 5 best options that allow you to earn a halal income without having to spend a time and money….the perfect halal side hustle.
Halal Online Business Model No 1: eCommerce
One of the best ways to make a halal income is by having an online store that sells actual physical products. And it’s easier than you think.
That’s what eCommerce is…. having an online store that sells actual physical products.
You can easily tie in your interests with having a store. So for example, you’re interested in health you could start an online store that sells premium quality halal health supplements. Or you love fashion so you start an online store selling the latest trends in your home country.
The possibilities are endless.
As always, stick to items that are permissible to sell. For example, let’s say you’re selling supplements. Don’t sell supplements that contain gelatin or other haraam ingredients, for example.
There are two steps to starting an eCommerce Store.
Step 1: Find products to sell. You can easily find all sorts of products at AliExpress
Step 2: Create an online store to sell it. Shopify allows you to create a beautiful, professionally designed online store and collect payments as well. Shopify even allows you to sell products directly from your Facebook page.
And if you sell crafts and other homemade items then you can do so on Etsy, which is an eCommerce site focused on handmade items and crafts.
And you don’t even have to buy a lot of inventory upfront either. If you choose a supplier that does drop shipping, you never even have to touch the item at all. Your customer places an order on your website and the supplier ships it out to them. On the other hand, you may wish to invest some money into purchasing some of the stock upfront and then shipping it out yourself.
Starting an online store is perfect for you if you if:
- You want to make money but dislike creating content such as blog posts, eBooks, videos and so on, and
- You’re looking for a straight forward way to make money online.
Of course, there’s a lot more to starting and running a profitable online store than the two steps I gave you above. The trick is to find a product that is in demand and that people want to buy. You can’t just guess and hope for the best. That’s a sure fire recipe for failure. And you need to be able to stand out from other online stores doing the same.

Halal Online Business Model # 2: Creating and Selling Information Products
This is hands down one of my favorite business models. Here you create an information product on your topic. Your product should show people how to achieve something or overcome some obstacle or challenge they have.
Your product can be in any number of formats such as:
- eBooks
- Online Courses
- Audio and video courses
- Webinars or Teleseminars
- Membership sites and so on….
What I love about information products is that you create them once and then they can earn you money for years to come. I love the concept of working once and getting paid over and over again. Don’t you?
Creating your own information product really isn’t as complicated or as difficult as it sounds. Modern technology has made it super easy and you probably already have all the necessary software already installed on your computer.
There are so many different formats you can create and sell your information product in. First off, you can create either a digital product or a physical one. I prefer a digital product because there are no production or shipping costs, but physical products do have higher profit margins.
Secondly, you need to decide if you want to create a written product (eBook, Kindle book, hardcopy book, manual), an audio product (mp3, CD, streaming audio) or a video product (DVD, streaming video, downloadable video). Or you may choose to create a product that has a combination of all three.
You don’t even have to create any of the content yourself. There are so many strategies that allow you to leverage the knowledge and expertise of others to create high value information products that others will pay top dollar for.
One such strategy is interviewing experts on the topic, recording the interviews and then selling them.
Creating and Selling Your Own Information Product(s) is perfect for you if:
- You like the idea of doing the work once and getting paid over and over again
- You enjoy writing and or sharing your knowledge with others
- You prefer doing the majority of work up front
- You want a large profit margin from your business
- You are an introvert and prefer to earn an income without too much interaction with others.

Online Business Model # 3: Affiliate Marketing
Would you like to make money by promoting products you’ve used and that you love? If that product has an affiliate program, you can.
Affiliate marketing is one of the quickest and easiest ways to make money online. As an affiliate marketer you make money by promoting other people’s products. You get paid a percentage of each sale. This can vary from around 10% — 75% or more.
What Sorts Of Products Can You Promote?
Practically anything.
You can promote actual physical tangible products (such as books, beauty products, clothing etc.) or digital information products (such as eBooks, audio courses, membership sites etc).
Actual physical products have lower commission rates than digital products, simply because of the larger cost associated with creating the product and shipping it.
How Does Affiliate Marketing Work?
The graphic shows how affiliate marketing works. The affiliate signs up to promote the product and is given a special tracking link by the merchant (whose product the affiliate is promoting).
The affiliate then displays the ad on the website, blog, Facebook page etc. This could be a banner or even a text link within an article.
The reader of the article or blog clicks on the link and purchases the product and the affiliate makes a commission from that sale.
So using the graphic above as the basis for our example, let’s say you have a blog about hats. You sign up for a hat affiliate program. A consumer interested in the latest hat fashion trends visits your blog, sees the banner ad for the hats you’re promoting, clicks on it and is taken the merchant’s site (called the advertiser in the infographic example above). She then purchases the hat and you receive a commission.
How Do I Get Started?
Where can You Find Products To Promote?
You can choose almost any niche topic and find relevant products and programs to promote. You can find physical products to promote at www.shareasale.com or www.CJ.com and digital products at www.ClickBank.com
Another great option for practically any type of product is Amazon’s Associate Program.
If you want to promote a particular product and you’re not sure if they have an affiliate program, then send an email to the website/product owner and ask if they have an affiliate program.
So How Do You Promote These Products?
In most cases you will need to have a blog on a topic related to the product you’re promoting. On your blog you can display banner ads, write product reviews, write good articles on the topic and then promote your affiliate products within these blog posts.
Other methods of promotion include doing video product reviews that you can post on YouTube, hosting webinars or teleseminars on a topic and then promoting the product at the end of the webinar or teleseminar, writing a free report on the topic and promoting the affiliate product within the report etc.
Who Is Affiliate Marketing For?
For everyone, newbie and experienced marketer alike.
If you’re just starting out online, promoting other people’s products is a great way to earn an income from a topic that you love without needing to have your own products.
Let’s say you’re passionate about homeschooling. You could start a homeschooling blog and then promote all sorts of different homeschooling programs, books etc.
But affiliate marketing isn’t just for newbies. It’s great even for experienced marketers who have their own products and programs. You can promote complementary products to your subscribers and blog readers.
Let’s say for example, that you have a blog about blogging. Let’s also assume that you have a course that teaches people how to start a blog. You could promote other programs on social media marketing, or software that makes some aspect of blogging easier.
The key is to ask yourself “What would people interested in my topic also be interested in?”
So if you have a diet blog, you could promote exercise videos, for example.
Affiliate marketing is perfect for you if:
- You have a blog or website but don’t have your own products or services to sell and you want to monetize your site.
- You already have your own products and/or services, but you want to compliment your existing offerings with affiliate products.
Online Halal Business Model No 4: Virtual Assistant
If you’ve had some sort of administrative job before and enjoyed it, then this may just be the perfect halal way to make money online for you.
A virtual assistant is a self-employed administrative or personal assistant who works remotely (usually at home) for various clients.
Unlike a full-time assistant, businesses hire a virtual assistant just for the hours and tasks that they require.
So what does a virtual assistant do?
Here are just a few things that you can do as a virtual assistant:
- Upload blogs or email newsletters
- Respond to emails and set up email lists
- Transcribe voice memos, conference calls and more
- Schedule appointments and make travel plans etc.
- Research
- Compile data into organized spreadsheets
- Handle forwarded phone calls when the client is unavailable or out of town
- Any time-consuming or repetitive tasks that the business owner wishes to delegate
- Help to hire other employees by doing preliminary research on candidates
- Write and distribute standard business communications such as emails and letters
- Prepare presentations
- Manage your social media accounts
- Coordinate with vendors
- Place orders for new supplies
Online Halal Business Model No 5: Blogging
Blogging is another great way for moms to make money online.
It’s quick and easy to get a blog set up. The way to make money with a blog is by building a following of loyal readers by creating high quality, valuable content and then monetizing the content with advertising, AdSense and promoting either your own product and/or other people’s affiliate products.
Blogging is not a “Get-Rich-Quick” scheme, but it’s an excellent way to build a business long-term.
The key to succeeding with blogging is to choose a topic that you’re passionate about and that has money-making potential as well.
Blogging is for you if:
- You like writing and sharing your thoughts and what you know with the world
- You want to create a platform and build an audience to market your products and services
- You want to be regarded as an expert on your topic.
