Bloody Old Fool

You, the only companion, in these deep sorrows of mine,
Thank you for your unwavering presence,
Do you recall those joyful days of mine,
When I'd slumber beneath your canopy, sharing my joys and wins with you,
When my tales were all of happiness,
When I wasn't fractured like I am now,
When life bore a different hue,
When I didn't have to feign my happiness,
When I was just me, unfiltered and true.

But then, life took a turn,
Happiness lost its way to me,
and gradually
Silence began to reign, both within and around me.

What?
You don't remember?
What you just claimed?
That you've never known a happy Saeed?

It's alright. You, the old fool.
It's only natural in old age,
OR
Perhaps, I too have grown old,
For I've borne the weight of life's trials,
Maybe, those were merely figments of my imagination,
You could be right,
I might be wrong.
